But soon enough, his disciples became evil and filled with darkness, and turned on DiZ (Ansem the Wise). Ansem decided to take on a different name and get revenge on his disciples. He changed his name to DiZ, which stands for "Darkness in Zero". DiZ then tried to use Riku to turn away from the darkness and capture the Nobody Roxas, so Sora could awaken from his deep slumber. Riku did not turn away from the darkness, but did help DiZ, so he could help his best friend Sora. In the end, DiZ (Ansem) died in the explosion of his own foolish experiment to turn Kingdom Hearts into data.

Weapon: N/A

Special Fact: The Ansem Reports in the original game Kingdom Hearts, are not written by the actual Ansem, but by the imposter Xenahort.

Roxas

Description: Sora's Nobody. Roxas was created when Sora released the Princess's of Hearts hearts, and became a heartless. Shortly after being created, Roxas joined the ranks of Organization XIII. In this time, Roxas befriended Axel, another member of the Organization. But soon, Roxas found out about Sora, and he left the Organization to find out more, against the wishes of Axel. He was soon captured by Riku and brought to DiZ, who put him into a pretend Twilight Town, so DiZ could use Roxas when he needed to reawaken Sora. While in the pretend Twilight Town, a girl named Namine appeared to Roxas, and they quickly became friends. At last, as DiZ had wanted, Roxas met Sora in his deep slumber, and fused with Sora, and Sora awoke. Later on in the game, Roxas and Namine met once again, but in their original selves' bodies (Sora, Kairi).

Namine

Description: Kairi's Nobody. Namine wasn't created like a normal Nobody. She was created through Sora when Kairi was inside Sora in the original game. Perhaps because she was created in this abnormal way, she achieved the power to switch people's memories and replace them with artificial ones. The Organization found out about Namine's special powers and forced her to use them against Sora in Castle Oblivion, but Sora let her free. Sora doesn't remember anything about Namine however, because she had to put back his old memories while he was in his deep slumber. A mysterious figure named DiZ found out about Namine and her powers and let her use her powers to restore Sora to his former self in his secret labratory. Soon, Namine found out about DiZ's plan for Roxas, and she went into the pretend Twilight Town DiZ created, and helped Roxas aquire the Keyblade and find out about himself. Her and Roxas became friends quickly, but DiZ found out about it and took Namine away to destroy her. But in the end, Namine and Roxas both got to fuse with their original selves - Sora and Kairi.

Weapon: N/A

Special Fact: Naminé's name was modeled after Nami, a Japanese word meaning ocean wave, likely a reference to Kairi's name, which, when written a certain way in kanji, means ocean or sea.

Organization XIII

Summary: The first six members of Organization XIII are Nobodies of assistants of Ansem in his experiments in darkness. The assistants and Ansem built an underground facility in Hollow Bastion, where they conducted experiments with the heart, using themselves as test subjects. After speaking with the off-worlder, King Mickey, Ansem saw the immorality of what he was doing and ceased his involvement. The assistants and their leader, Xehanort, did not share his moral compunction and continued their experiments. This eventually led to tragedy and the creation of Nobody versions of the assistants. Xemnas, the Nobody of Xehanort, became the "Superior" and founded Organization XIII in order to recover their hearts and become complete humans again.

Introduced in KH:CoM, Organization XIII is a group of thirteen members. Each member mysteriously has an "X" in their name, but the reason for this, I do not know. Each member controls an element. All Organization XIII members in KH2 control a type of Nobody. Riku and King Mickey are not members of Organization XIII, they have no ranks. They are simply, undercover. Rankings and descriptions of each member are listed below:

Xemnas

Description: Xenahorts Nobody and founder of the Organization. He is treated with the utmost respect by all the fellow members of the Organization. Xemnas is using Sora to collect hearts for him so he can offer them to Kingdom Hearts and become a whole and an almost god-like being. Like Ansem The Wisem, Xenahort is desperate to find the meaning, structure, and power of the heart - but he is oblivious to the fact that he knows nothing.

Weapon: Red Aerial Blades (x2)

Element: Darkness

Nobody: Sorcerer

Original Name: Xenahort

Xigbar

Description: A senior member of Organization XIII. Being an intense sniper by nature, Xigbar uses his ray guns more than his element in battle. He is not incredibly intelligent and fights through basic instinct. For someone his age, Xigbar likes to talk a lot and insult people.

Weapon: Ray Guns (x2)

Element: Space

Nobody: Sniper

Xaldin

Weapon: Lance (x6)

Element: Wind

Nobody: Dragoon

Original Name: Dilan

Vexen

Description: Vexen is the research scientist opf the group and loves to experiment with the dark secrets of the heart. He first battles Riku to make a replica of him. Vexen then uses that replica against Sora and angers him to thinking that Vexen has gained control over Riku instead of just making a replica of him. Vexen soons gives Sora the card to Twilight Town so he could reveal something important to Sora. Seeing what Vexen is about to do, Marluxia considers him a traitor and sends Axel to kill him. Despite pleading for mercy, Axel lays the deathblow to Vexen, telling him "Now you can be nothing instead of just being nobody."

Weapon: Shield (x1)

Element: Ice

Nobody: None

Original Name: Even

Lexaeus

Description: Lexaeus is a well-built, muscular fighter in the Oragnization's ranks. Lexaeus, along with Vexen and Zexion, are older members of the Organization who are less than pleased when they are forced to submit to the will of newcomers like Marluxia. When they realize the Lord of Castle Oblivion plans to overthrow Organization XII by capturing and manipulating Sora, Lexaeus and Zexion decide to capture Riku and use him in the same fashion to counter Marluxia. When it became dangerously apparent that Sora might fall into Marluxia's grasp, Lexaeus confronts Riku directly, trying to convince him to open himself up to the power of the darkness in his heart, but Riku refuses. In a very close battle, Riku manages to defeat him.

Weapon: Tomahawk (x1)

Element: Earth

Nobody: None

Original Name: Elaeus

Zexion

Description: Like Axel, Zexion is a skilled manipulator by nature, and as we see later on, his talents lay outside of battle, even to the point where he does not possess a weapon. He has the ability to identify individuals by their scent, sensing when they die, and seems to be able to do so from great distances. Zexion informs Vexen and Lexaeus when he senses two new scents in the lowest basement of Castle Oblivion. One of the scents is Maleficent, and he senses that she is eliminated by the other visitor, one with a scent "exactly similar" to that of the Superior. Not long after, he identifies the other guest in the castle: Riku. He observes the boy's progress through Castle Oblivion until Vexen's death, when he and Lexaeus decide that they should use Riku just as they believe Marluxia will use Sora. After Larxene, Lexaeus and even Marluxia are killed, Zexion sees that Riku is no longer needed and attempts to destroy him himself. He leads Riku into a manifestation of Destiny Islands. Zexion appears and wages psychological war on Riku, telling him about how he threw away his friends and his home, opened the door to darkness, and destroyed his islands. He then engulfed Riku in light, but a vision of Kairi manages to convince Riku to shed his fear of the darkness. With newfound strength, Riku follows Zexion's scent through the light and strikes him, but Zexion escapes. His escape was short-lived; Axel brings the Riku Replica down to him and convinces the replica that he can become real by gaining power that the real Riku does not have. The replica agrees, and with Axel's suggestion, strikes down Zexion without difficulty.

Saix

Description: Despite his rank, Saix is respected as if he was the second in command. He is a calm and collected man who shows no emotion. Axel has a clear dislike of him and Saix becomes the one to brand Axel as a traitor to the group for attempting to derail DiZ's plans. Saix shows his true beast-like nature when he fights Sora at the World That Never Was, going into a berserk state when he is on the verge of defeat.

Weapon: Gigantic Claymore (x1)

Element: Moon

Nobody: Berserker

Axel

Description: Axel's role and motives are fully revealed in Kingdom Hearts II and revolve around Roxas, whom Axel sees as a dear friend and almost like a brother. He attempts to personally bring Roxas back into the Organization by force, knowing that if Roxas was to find and meet face to face with Sora, the two will fuse to complete Sora and Roxas would no longer exist. When that plan fails, Axel discovers that Xemnas has simply been setting up Roxas and the other members of the Organization to further his own selfish desires and he turns against the Organization. He kidnaps Kairi to see if he could use her to influence Sora to fight with him against Xemnas. Because of these acts, Saix brands Axel as a traitor, and decides to use Kairi as bait to make Sora give up the fight against them. Axel eventually realizes that if Sora were to die, Roxas would "die" along with him. Knowing that he would be unable to live with himself if he were to let Roxas die and angry that he put his own needs before his best friend's, Axel chooses to fight with Sora rather than against him. When he and Sora are attacked by a large group of Nobodies, he performs a kamikaze attack and sacrifices himself to save Sora.

Weapon: Chakram (x2)

Element: Fire

Nobody: None

Demyx

Description:  He is seen as immature compared to the other members and rather incompetent at completing missions. Initially, he is confused between Sora and Roxas, regarding the former as the latter in their conversations. Demyx first appears in the Underworld, where he plays around with Sora, not taking the young keyblade master seriously. Rather than making a repeat performance, Demyx changes his attitude when he fights Sora again at the Hollow Bastion. Unfortunately for Demyx, Sora defeats him again.

Weapon: Sitar (x1)

Element: Water

Nobody: Dancer

Original Name: Medy? (Unconfirmed)

Luxord

Description: Gambling permeates into all aspects of Luxord's life. He loves to gamble and sees battle as just another form of it. Like Zexion, he is more a strategist than a powerful fighter. Luxord appears at Port Royal, shouting orders at Barbossa's men and investigating the Parley Process. Later, at the World That Never Was, Luxord appears before Sora and traps his companions in his playing cards, leaving Sora to fight alone. In his final gamble, he raises his cards to defend himself from Sora's final strike, but it is in vain.

Weapon: Cards (x52)

Nobody: Gambler

Original Name: Rodlu? (Unconfirmed)

Marluxia

Description: A relative newcomer to Organization XIII, Marluxia is Lord of Castle Oblivion. Along with Larxene, Marluxia conspires to overthrow the Organization by using Naminé to manipulate Sora's memories. Upon Axel's return, Marluxia extends his trust to Axel as he has done with Larxene. However, Axel betrays them and convinces Naminé to do what she thinks is right. Marluxia recaptures Naminé and is confronted by Axel, who accuses Marluxia and Larxene as the traitors for conspiring against the Organization. The two are about to fight with Marluxia planning to use Naminé as a shield. Sora appears and Marluxia disappears to the 13th floor, leaving Axel to fight Sora. Seeing that Axel has been defeated, Marluxia anticipates Sora's arrival on the 13th Floor. The two fight, only for Sora to realize he has been fighting a replica of Marluxia. The real Marluxia, atop a Nobody called "Spectre", confronts Sora and another battle ensued. Marluxia, like the other members of the Organization, is defeated.

Nobody: None

Original Name: Arlumia? (Unconfirmed)

Larxene

Description: The only female member, Larxene, conspires with Marluxia to overthrow Organization XIII by using Sora to achieve their ends. She is an arrogant sadist in nature, abrasive and uncaring for the feelings of others as she enjoyed seeing them suffer with her mindgames. Compared to the other members, she is incredibly agile in battle. In her first encounter with Sora, she flips Marluxia's plans into high gear when she attacks Sora and turns the luck charm into a shape of a star different from Kairi's. The act fully replaces Kairi in Sora's memories with Naminé.  But soon Axel foils their plan by setting Naminé free. Naminé then reveals to Sora that the Organization has been using him since he stepped into Castle Oblivion. Larxene appears to Sora, after he fought the Riku Replica for the fourth time, to destroy them all. Sora kills Larxene, leaving only two members of the Organization in Castle Oblivion for him to deal with.

Roxas

Description:  During his time in the Organization, he and Axel became best friends, but that changed after Xemnas revealed Sora's existence to him. Roxas, against Axel's wishes, wanted to find out the truth behind who he really was and left the Organization. Although he is able to remember his past as Number 13 in Organization XIII, and despite Axel's attempts to stop him, he merges with Sora at the beginning of the game as part of DiZ's plan to restore Sora's memories faster, since he realized that the process was taking much longer than he thought, and make Sora active again to fight the rest of the Organization.
